Dry Cough

        from swollen knuckles clogged
        squeezed in a tourniquet throat

        beating blisters from slashed cries
knotted and twisted into barbed wire ink

kicked off a cracked chalk tongue
stumbling out across bleeding tooth and poisoned lip

        taunting threat of my poetry:
        dry cough
