Let’s Not Say

Nothing’s wrong with his tongue. Sincere love
breathes through every sound he has for you
even as you ridicule and shame
wasting yourself on him. He still speaks of
how good you are. To you that won’t do,
not when you can’t speak of him the same.
It broke her heart, you know, that foul abuse.
Legally now her child’s called something new.
Safe to say he’s allowed what it became,
but what I’d have removed from common use
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀would be your name.
