Uniquely Mattered

⠀⠀⠀⠀At cloudless midnight, I was the one distant star
⠀⠀⠀⠀that mattered to wonder’s reflection in your eye.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Within morning’s deluge, I was the one pure raindrop
⠀⠀⠀⠀that mattered to summer’s warm smile on your lips.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Against day’s communiqués, I was the one urgent word
⠀⠀⠀⠀that mattered to poetry’s love on your tongue.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Into dusk’s escape, I was the one vivid dream
⠀⠀⠀⠀that mattered to vision’s certainty in your sleep.

  1. “that mattered”
    pulls and ties everything together.

    “one pure raindrop”–lush image

  2. but “that mattered”

until, that until the crowd swallowed that other up until I no longer stood out, was no longer any different from any other, no longer special

⠀⠀⠀⠀For yesterday’s archives, I was the one weblog poem
⠀⠀⠀⠀that mattered to friendship’s trust to your pleasure.
