Before I moved south to accept on invitation to care for Iggy, I worked for what I could make of a living at a fast food sandwich franchise in the northeast. Although I found more than adequate compensation in the warm smiles of customers I was able to reach with personal, individual attention, that in no way excuses the gross unfairness of the service industry taking advantage of the situations that force people to accept such positions. I whole-heartedly support the labor action pending 29 Aug 2013. If this poem were to echo any labor action songs of past strikes and movements, I don’t apologize. We are one voice.
